College Field Hockey: Rider’s Penas Third Team All-America Honors
For the second season in a row, Rider University field hockey player Sandra Penas has earned All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

LAWRENCEVILLE — For the second season in a row, a Rider University field hockey player has earned All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
Junior Sandra Penas (Barcelona, Spain) was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-America Division I Third Team it was announced Tuesday (Nov. 20).
A 5-6 forward, Penas was named to the Northeast Conference First Team for the third season in a row as Rider advanced to the NCAA Play-In at UMass, with the Broncs losing 2-1 in overtime as Penas scored Rider's only goal.

Penas, the 2011 NEC Offensive Player of the Year and 2010 NEC Rookie of the Year, helped lead Rider to its fourth NEC regular season title in a row and was the tournament MVP as the Broncs won their third straight NEC championship.
Penas led the NEC with 20 goals and 49 points.

Penas finished the season eighth in the nation in goals and ninth in points per game.
Penas will enter her senior season third on Rider's all-time scoring list (54g, 25a) with 133 points.
Penas was named to the 2012 Longstreth/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team last week, earning her a spot on the All-America ballot.
The Broncs return 19 letterwinners in 2013 for head coach Lori Hussong who has a 184-77 record in 13 seasons at Rider.
Last season, then senior Virginia Egusquiza (Gexto, Spain) also earned Third Team All-America honors from the NFHCA after graduating as Rider’s all-time leading scorer.
