College Swimming and Diving - Men: Rider University 157, Saint Peter’s University 134; Women: Rider University 171, Saint Peter’s University 111

Both the Rider University men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Saint Peter's University on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 19) in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference meet in Jersey City.

JERSEY CITY — Both the Rider University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept Saint Peter’s University on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 19) in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference meet in Jersey City.

For the Rider women, senior Kelly O’Connor (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) won the 200 free (1:59.47), 200 back (2:08.10) and 100 fly (59.78).

For the Rider men, senior Brian Molloy (Toms River/Toms River HS East) won the 50 free (21.82), the 500 free (4:43.69) and the 1000 free (10:02.88)

Also for the Bronc women, junior Melanie Leonhard (Piscataway) won the 500 free (5:17.75) and 1000 free (10:44.38) and freshman diver Emma Billerbeck (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) won the one-meter (244.73) and three-meter (248.02).

Also for the Bronc men, senior Johnny Funk (Las Vegas, Nev./Southeast Career & Tech. Academy) won the 100 back (52.60) and 200 back (1:53.85)

Other women’s results included sophomore Carlee Oswald (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley) winning the 100 back (1:01.71), sophomore Rachel Brooker (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) winning the 200 fly (2:16.55) and freshman Taylor Shelley (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) winning the 200 IM (2:17.19).

In men’s diving, Bronc freshman Wayco Bailey (Casper, Wyo./Natrona County HS) won the one-meter (314.18) and junior Trevor Hiller (Galloway Twp./Absegami) won the three-meter (302.48).

The men’s 400 free relay won with a time of 3:13.48.

Rider swims again on January 26 in the final meet of the 2012-13 regular season, at Rutgers (women) with Fordham (men/women) and Yale (men).

The MAAC Championships are Feb. 14-16 in Buffalo, New York, at Erie Community College.
