College Tennis - Men: Mount St. Mary’s 7, Rider University 0; Women: Mount St. Mary’s 7, Rider University 0

Both the Rider men's and women's tennis teams were swept 7-0 by Mount St. Mary's Sunday afternoon (Oct. 21).

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Both the Rider men’s and women’s tennis teams were swept 7-0 by Mount St. Mary’s Sunday afternoon (Oct. 21).

With the loss, the Rider men fell to 2-7 and the women are now 1-8 overall.

For the Rider men, junior Rollie Malfitano (Wenonah/Gloucester Catholic) won five games at number one singles before losing 6-3, 6-2. At number two singles, senior Drew Laverty (Mount Royal/Kingsway Regional) also won five games, before being defeated 6-2, 6-3.

For the Rider women, senior Marly Roche (Sussex/High Point Regional) won five games at number one singles before losing 7-5, 6-0.

Both the Rider men and women will travel to Drexel on Tuesday for a makeup match against the Dragons.
