College Volleyball: Siena College 3, Rider University 1

The Rider University volleyball team lost its second straight match, losing at Siena College 3-1 on Sunday (Oct. 14) despite 11 kills each from junior Bridget Sheerin and senior Stephanie Nagy.

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Rider University volleyball team lost its second straight match, losing at Siena College 3-1 on Sunday (Oct. 14) despite 11 kills each from junior Bridget Sheerin (Oak Lawn, Ill./Marist) and senior Stephanie Nagy (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine).

The Saints won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match 25-20, 22-25, 25-19, 25-11, out-hitting the Broncs .240 to .161.

Also for Rider (9-10, 3-7 MAAC), sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 39 assists and 10 digs with senior Brittany Gajewski (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central) compiling 28 digs.

Junior Megan Knott (West Caldwell/James Caldwell) added 12 digs and nine kills for the Broncs.

Siena swept the Broncs in two matches last season, 3-1 in Lawrenceville and 3-0 in Loudonville.  Siena swept Rider 3-0 and 3-1 in the two MAAC matches in 2010 and the Saints also posted 3-0 and 3-1 wins over the Broncs in 2009.

The teams meet again Nov. 10 for the MAAC rematch in Lawrenceville.

Rider travels to Saint Peter's University on Wednesday for a MAAC match at 7 p.m.
