Men’s College Tennis: Rider University 5, Wagner College 2

Led by the play of senior Drew Laverty, the Rider University men's tennis team posted a 5-2 non-conference win at Wagner College on Friday afternoon (Oct. 12).

 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Led by the play of senior Drew Laverty (Mount Royal/Kingsway Regional), the Rider University men’s tennis team posted a 5-2 non-conference win at Wagner College on Friday afternoon (Oct. 12).

Laverty won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles and teamed up with senior Matt DiMartino (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) for an 8-6 win at second doubles.

Senior John Spellman (Toms River/Toms River HS South) was a winner at fourth singles (6-0, 6-0) with senior Ryan Carpenter (Sahuarita, Ariz./Sahuarita) winning 6-0, 6-3 at fifth singles.

Junior Rollie Malfitano (Wenonah/Gloucester Catholic) and junior Nick Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) were victorious by an 8-3 score at first doubles.

The Rider women travel to Wagner on Saturday.

Both the Bronc men and women travel to Drexel Monday.
