Women’s College Basketball: McKenzie, Bopp Pre-Season All-MAAC

Junior MyNeshia McKenzie and senior Caitlin Bopp of the Rider University women's basketball team were recognized with Pre-Season All-MAAC honors it was announced Thursday (Nov. 1).

EDISON — Junior MyNeshia McKenzie and senior Caitlin Bopp of the Rider University women’s basketball team were recognized with Pre-Season All-MAAC honors it was announced Thursday afternoon (Nov. 1) by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

McKenzie, a 5-11 forward from Springfield, Pa. (Springfield (Delco)) was named Second Team All-MAAC in voting by the 10 conference coaches with Bopp, a 6-2 center from Baltimore, Md. (Institute of Notre Dame) garnering Third Team All-MAAC honors.

A Communication major, McKenzie enters the 2012-13 season 15th on Rider’s all-time rebounding list with 493.  As a sophomore, McKenzie was named Third Team All-MAAC after leading the conference in rebounding.

As a sophomore, McKenzie appeared in all 30 games, making 24 starts and led Rider in scoring (10.8 points per game), rebounding (9.1 per game), free throws made (72), steals (48) and minutes played (32.2 per game) and was third on the team in blocks (16).  Her 9.1 rebounds per game were 50th nationally.

A Business Administration major, Bopp enters her senior season tied for sixth all-time on Rider's rebounding list with 662.  As a junior, Bopp played in 25 games, making 18 starts and averaged 9.2 points per game.  Bopp was fourth in the MAAC in field goal percentage (.469), fourth in offensive rebounds (68), fifth in total rebounding (182) and eighth in the conference in blocked shots (19).

As a freshman, Bopp was named to the MAAC All-Rookie team.

Rider opens the season at Stony Brook Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. with the home opener in Alumni Gymnasium on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. against the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
