Crossroads to Host Heritage Partner Workshop

TRENTON, NJ, May 17, 2023 – Crossroads of the American Revolution is hosting an in-person Heritage Partner Workshop on June 28, 2023 at East Jersey Old Town Village from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This workshop will focus on different strategies for public engagement including community outreach, youth educational programing, working with costumed interpreters and reenactors, creating public programs from grant-funded research, and incorporating RevolutionNJ’s key themes for the 250th anniversary into your site’s interpretation. Guest speakers include Dr. Marc Lorenc (New Jersey Historical Commission), Michelle Doherty (Old Barracks Museum), Dr. Jennifer Janofsky (Red Bank Battlefield), Matthew Stroh (East Jersey Old Town Village), and Dr. Tyler Putman (Museum of the American Revolution).

Attendees will walk through the RevolutionNJ Strategic and Interpretive Frameworks and learn how sites can engage these ideas in planning for the 250th. Other discussions include creating engaging - programs utilizing best public history practices, working with volunteer and contracted reenactors as part of events at your historic site or museum, different strategies for reaching new audiences and improving community outreach, and shaping youth educational programing utilizing pandemic online learning practices.

Admission is open to Heritage Partners and the general public, with priority registration given to Heritage Partners. Registration for Heritage Partners ($25) opens on May 4, 2023; public registration ($35) opens on May 29, 2023. Space is limited. Lunch will be provided.
