Dehydration in our Parents and Elders: Cause for Concern
What are the symptoms of dehydration in our elders? What causes dehydration? How do you keep your aging parents from getting dehydrated?

Mom and I had a marathon day-out on a beautiful Saturday. It was sunny - not humid, but it was hot by the time we finished our errands. Mom was happy to be out on a beautiful day with the breeze blowing through her hair and the sun on her face. I was glad she had the chance to be out and about, and that she was with me to get a new watch band fitted. By the time she had gotten in and out of the van three times (for the doctor, lunch and farmer’s market visit), I could see she was visibly tired and that it was an effort to make that last exit from the car and into the house. Worried about dehydration, I gave her cold water as soon as we got home. After resting a half hour, I got her to eat some watermelon.
