Greater Princeton Steinway Society Continues Season with Musicale at Jacobs Music

The fourth concert of the 2015-2016 takes place Sunday, Jan. 17 in the Jacobs Music recital hall.

Award-winning concert pianist Esma Pasic-Filipovic will present the fourth musicale of the Greater Princeton Steinway Society’s 2015-2016 season on Sunday, Jan. 17. The concert will take place at 3 p.m. in the recital hall at Jacobs Music, located at 2540 Brunswick Pike (U.S. Route 1) in Lawrenceville.

A social hour with refreshments and conversation with Pasic-Filipovic will follow her performance.

A prize winner at a number of piano competitions in Yugoslavia, Pasic-Filipovic has been on the faculty of the piano department of Westminster Conservatory since 1998. She has given solo and chamber recitals as well as performances with orchestras in Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Geneva, Biel, Lausanne, Copenhagen, Innsbruck, Vienna, and New Jersey. Her program, entitled “Viennese compositions in C Major,” will include Mozart’s Sonata KV 309, Beethoven’s Sonata Op.53 (“Waldstein”) and Schubert’s Wanderer Phantasie in C Major, Op.15.

The Greater Princeton Steinway Society, now in its 26th season, subsequently continues its 2015-2016 schedule with a recital by Todd Van Kekerix on Sunday, Feb. 14. Veteran jazz pianists Steve Kramer and Peter Lauffer, performing as a duo, will conclude the season on Sunday, March 13. Both concerts will take place at 3 p.m. at Jacobs Music.

The season will also include the Society’s annual scholarship competition for young pianists, 7-18, culminating in a winners recital in May, as well as a new jazz piano scholarship competition for high school students, with dates to be announced.

Founded in 1989, the Steinway Society is dedicated to developing the talent of young piano students. All proceeds from ticket sales help fund scholarship awards for aspiring, young pianists.

Steinway Society memberships are $50 per individual or $85 per family and include admission to all six musicales. Tickets for individual musicales are $18 for adults or $10 for full-time students and may be purchased at the Jacobs Music Recital Hall 30 minutes before the beginning of each program.

Benefactors contributing $100 and higher and sponsors contributing $250 or more also earn admission to all six musicales as well as recognition in the concert programs. Further information is available through the Greater Princeton Steinway Society website.
