Joe's Crab Shack Fundraiser for Special Olympics

Patrons of Joe’s Crab Shack on Rt. 1 in Lawrenceville will have the opportunity to support Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ) when they dine on Thursday, April 12 during both lunch and dinner.

Local Law Enforcement Officers and SONJ athletes will be on hand to wait tables and collect “tips,” providing an interesting twist to the saying, “To Protect and SERVE.” All tips generated by the officers will directly benefit the athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey. In addition, 10 percent of patrons’ checks will be donated to Special Olympics New Jersey when a coupon is presented. The coupon is available for download at http://www.sonj.org/iCMS/Files/01396.pdf.

This local fundraising event is one of many Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) activities that take place throughout the year. The statewide LETR for Special Olympics New Jersey has been recognized worldwide for many years as one of the top grassroots fundraising organizations for Special Olympics. In 2011, the LETR for Special Olympics New Jersey raised more than $2.6 million.

Special Olympics New Jersey provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for more than 22,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
