FREE CONCERT SEP 19: See Danielia Cotton and Chalk and the Beige Americans Perform at the Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series

NJ Native Blues Rocker to Perform at Free, Family-Friendly Concert Series

Join us for a night of blues and rock as Danielia Cotton and Chalk and the Beige Americans perform at 7pm on September 19 as part of the Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series, which features FREE Concerts Every Saturday Through September 26!

Danielia Cotton was raised in a small town in western New Jersey, surrounded by strong female jazz vocalists. Before launching her career as a solo artist, Cotton harmonized alongside her mother and aunts in gospel group, the Brooks Ensemble. The soundtrack of Cotton’s youth was formed by artists like Stevie Wonder, AC/DC and Tina Turner—all of whom have helped to shape her sound. Her diverse musical influences crystallized into a style she could call her own the moment she wrapped her hands around her first electric guitar—a Fender Tele that she taught herself to play. She instantly fell in love with the expressiveness and versatility of the instrument. “An electric guitar can sound painful,” she says. “It can sound bright. Playing it is like putting on makeup for the first time: you start to live in a different world.” Discovering the electric guitar allowed Cotton to finally channel her love for rock, jazz and gospel into a singular sound. The result is fiery, soulful and irresistible.

Opening act Chalk & The Beige Americans are a grassroots-organic soul-hop trio hailing from Philadelphia. Their sound draws upon the musical stylings of ipod-joggers, laptop-DJs and MP3 chop-shops.
