Free Tax Assistance Offered In Lawrence Township
Four sites in Lawrence Township are helping residents during this tax season.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Four locations in Lawrence Township will offer free income tax preparation assistance to help residents prepare and file their 2016 taxes, Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said on Wednesday.
The deadline for filing 2016 tax returns for both state and federal taxes is April 18, 2017. Service runs Feb. 1 through mid-April. Call the site for required paperwork.
AARP Tax-Aide programs are available at the Lawrence branch of the Mercer County Library System and at the Lawrence Senior Center.

The AARP Foundation provides Tax-Aides to assist people with low to moderate incomes with 2016 tax preparation at Mercer County Connection, libraries and other sites. For more information, including a list of documents to bring to the Tax-Aide site, visit www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/.
The Lawrence library is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike. Services are offered on Thursdays, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Appointments are necessary, and can be made by calling 609-882-9246.

The Lawrence Senior Center is located at 30 East Darrah Lane. Services are offered on Tuesdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Appointments are necessary, and can be made by calling 609-844-7048.
IRS Volunteer Tax Assistance programs are being run at the Boys and Girls Club of Mercer County and the United Way of Greater Mercer County.
The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to people who make $50,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals in local communities. Services are offered at the Boys and Girls Club is located at 1040 Spruce Street in Lawrence. Services run on Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Feb. 1-April 16 for English speaking residents only. Walk-ins are welcome. Call 609-695-6060 for required paperwork.
The United Way of Greater Mercer County is located at 3150 Princeton Pike, Crossroads Corporate Center, Suite 230, in Lawrence. Services are 3 p.m.-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 2 p.m.-6 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 2-April 17. Bilingual assistance is available. Walk-ins are welcome, but an appointment is preferred.
