Fugitive Captured in Georgia Returned to Mercer County
Dewayne Pinkney, 47, was wanted for failure to appear on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and terroristic threats.

A fugitive from Mercer County was captured in a multi-jurisdictional effort in Douglas County, Georgia, this week returned to Mercer County on Thursday, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announced.
Dewayne Pinkney, 47, was wanted for failure to appear in New Jersey State Superior Court in April of 2015 on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and terroristic threats.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force launched a comprehensive investigation, and discovered that Pinkney was hiding in the Metro-Atlanta area.

The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Douglas
County Sheriff’s Office found Pinkney in a home about 25 miles outside Atlanta. They arrested him without incident on May 4. He is currently being held at the Mercer County Correction Center.

“The apprehension and return of Dewayne Pinkney to Mercer County was truly a coordinated effort,” Kemler said.
