Health Professionals Volunteer at Annual BAPS Charities Health Fair in Robbinsville, NJ
Health Fair, Increasing health cost, prevention, health education, awareness, free
Over 50 medical professionals were on hand as BAPS Charities hosted its annual Health Fair on October 9, 2016 in Robbinsville, NJ. Professionals volunteered their services in the fields of cardiology, nephrology, dermatology, podiatry, dentistry, gynecology, pain management, and psychiatry. With a long history of providing subsidized health services to the community, the health fair continued the tradition by offering a variety of screenings to community participants. With the increasing cost of health care in this economy, health professionals educated over 300 attendees on various health topics and provided their expert advice on regular health checkups and other health related issues.
One of the Health Fair participants, Vidhi Brahmbhatt, a resident of Lawrenceville said, “This is the first time I am attending a BAPS Charities Health Fair. I came here with my husband not knowing what to expect but I am very glad I came. I could see an internist, physical therapist, optometrist and a dentist — all under a single roof in just one hour. I am so happy with the one-on-one consultations I had today. This would take a lot of time and money if I had done it at a private facility.”
Dr. Francisco Villota, who specializes in Occupational Medicine said, “There is a big problem in the community about diabetes, obesity and hypertension. The services BAPS Charities Health Fair is providing is exactly the areas where the biggest problems exist.”

Dr. Rekha Gohel, Internal Medicine and Geriatric specialist with office in Freehold, said, “Awareness, education is key to prevention of diseases. If any disease is diagnosed and treated early we can have a completely different outcome. We have so many specialist doctors at the health faith who are helping to bring about health awareness. I am really impressed that BAPS Charities is doing very good to help the participants who do not have access to health care.”
Doctors that volunteered their time at the Health Fair came from a diverse set of local hospitals and private practices. “Today I saw some cases of very high glucose and cholesterol requiring immediate treatment. Thanks to BAPS Charities Health Fair, we were able to make a difference in the lives of so many people,” said Dr. Shodhan Patel.
