LaRosa Leads Lawrence Jr. Cardinals Football Over Pine Hill

The Lawrence Jr. Cardinals Football 100lb football team defeats Pine Hill as 5th grader, Noah LaRosa, scores two clutch touch downs.

Running back Noah LaRosa scored to two touchdowns to lead the Lawrence Jr. Cardinals 100lb football team to an 18-6 victory over the Pine Hill Rams. LaRosa got the chance to run early when Jr. Cardinals kicker, Will Schuler, recovered his own opening kickoff on the Pine Hill 40 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage fullback Chris Kildea lead the blocking on a dive play that LaRosa took for 40 yards to paydirt.

The Jr. Cardinals defense held tight the first half shutting out the Rams with strong line work from tackle, Luke Longo, and defensive end, Kyler Jolly. Both made multiple back-field tackles. In the 2nd quarter defensive back, Armando Rosario, had a key interception. Lawrence started at their own 15 and drove to the 50 yard line. Quarterback, Brandon Deckard, rolled left on a bootleg and headed 50 yards for another score behind a crushing block from slot back, Jimmy Kildea.

In the second half the Jr. Cardinals maintained great field position behind excellent punts by Schuler and tenacious punt coverage by Matthew Stern. Pine Hill did manage one drive that led to a touchdown to close the gap to 12-6 in the 4th quarter. Lawrence was facing a 4th and 10 with 50 seconds remaining in regulation. The Jr. Cardinals elected to go for it and put the ball in LaRosa’s hands. The speedy tailback took a sweep right and evaded multiple defenders as he sprinted 50 yards for the final score to secure the victory.
