According to the NJDOE, here’s what earned Le the award:

"Yulieth has established herself as a teacher leader in her district by volunteering on multiple committees and by piloting new programs. Yulieth is currently her local union’s corresponding secretary. Yulieth, in conjunction with the Lawrence Township Education Association, started a “Latinos Unidos” program at Lawrence Intermediate School. The program helps bridge the communication gap between her school and Spanish-speaking families in the community. Yulieth has been awarded several classroom grants by the Lawrence Township Education Foundation. These include hands-on experiences for students, flexible seating options, and inclusive and diverse books for her classroom library. Yulieth is committed to creating an environment where all students and families feel respected and welcomed."

Le earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Rider University.

She has been teaching 4th grade at Lawrence Intermediate School for the past seven years.

“Yulieth strives to be a kind and compassionate teacher. She creates a positive and nurturing classroom environment where students are encouraged to challenge themselves and take risks. Yulieth is dedicated to helping students grow and develop as learners,” the NJDOE said.

Individual schools nominate exceptional educators for county “Teacher of the Year” through the Governor’s Educator of the Year Program.

A panel of educators will select the overall New Jersey State Teacher of the Year from among the 21 County Teachers of the Year based on written applications, video submissions and interviews with the top finalists. That educator will go on to represent New Jersey in competing for the title of National Teacher of the Year.

“I applaud the commitment and professionalism of each of the 21 county Teachers of the Year,” Gov. Phil Murphy said.

“If you want to know why New Jersey’s public schools are rated as among the best in the nation, look no further than these 21 exemplars of the kind of quality teaching that takes place in every school throughout our state,” Murphy added.
