Lawrence Jr. Cardinals Beat Robbinsville in Homecoming Thriller

Defensive toughness defines game as the Jr. Cardinals ride two Ke'Mari Brown touchdowns to a 13-7 thrilling overtime victory

It was a spectacular evening with a huge crowd in attendance when the Lawrence Jr. Cardinal 115lb team defeated the Robbinsville Ravens for their second victory in the past three weeks. The Cardinals scored in the first quarter to go up 6-0 on a Ke’Mari Brown sweep left. Quarterback Nabil Hachicha dove in for the 1-point conversion behind center, Connor Verga. After that the game became a defensive battle. With three minutes to go in the 4th quarter Robbinsville scored to tie the game. Robbinsville could not handle a booming Deon Mclean punt with a minute to go and Jalen Corbin recovered for the Cardinals with 50 seconds to go on the Raven’s 15 yard line. In over time the Cardinals defense held strong as Robbinsville got first possession. On 4th down from the 4 yard line Verga and Matt Kildea converged on a tackle to give Lawrence the ball back. On the ensuing drive, Brown hit pay dirt again cutting back on a sweep left through a hole opened by a punishing block from wide receiver Paynn Robinson.

“They were a tough team. It was a good game. We never quit and we got the win,” said Verga after the game. The Jr. Cardinals are at Mapleshade next week.
