The animals are most visible during the day, searching for food, officials said.

While they may occasionally prey on small pets, their favored prey are small mammals and human-produced food, officials said.

To prevent a visit from these animals, residents have been advised to keep garbage in secure containers, not to leave out pet food overnight, limit birdseed usage, and clear any brush on the property that could provide cover for the animals or their prey.
