The Lawrence Science & Engineering Fair will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2015, where more than 125 projects will be displayed and judged. It will take place at Lawrence High School this year from 1:30 pm till 4:00 pm and the entrance is free for all visitors. Participation is open to all Lawrence Township public school students from Grades 4-8. This is the 6th consecutive year that the Lawrence Science & Engineering Fair is being held, and the 1st year to be held at Lawrence High School.
Utilizing the scientific method, participants explore a question of their choice and project the process and results of their findings on a poster. Projects submitted to the Fair are organized by grade level. Participants can work on their own or with a partner. High School student mentors have been made available to participants by Lawrence High School STEM Academy. School science teachers, libraries and the Local Mercer County Library have been providing additional assistance. Judges (from outside the schools) will review all projects and interview students about their work. Prizes will be given at each grade. The awards ceremony will begin at 3:30 pm on the same day at Lawrence High School.
Another great attraction to this fair is the hands-on demonstrations held by several local education bodies and organizations. These groups include Rider University, TCNJ, Mercer County Naturalist and Lawrence High School/STEM Academy students.
