LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Lawrence Township Education Foundation is looking for a new Executive Director. The position is part-time (25 hours a week). The description, posted at ltefnj.org, is as follows:

The Executive Director (ED) provides leadership and management of the Lawrence Township Education Foundation, ensuring that LTEF successfully executes its mission to foster educational excellence, creativity and achievement in Lawrence Township Public Schools.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, which sets the organization’s strategic direction, the ED will have extensive operational responsibility for LTEF’s activities, including financial reporting, donor cultivation and engagement, and event management.

The ED will initially develop deep knowledge of LTEF core programs and operations and will work closely with teachers and administrators in the Lawrence Township Public Schools.

The ED will actively engage and energize LTEF volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, and funders.

As the sole staff member of LTEF, the ED serves as the hub for communication with multiple audiences and stakeholders.

The position requires that the ED do the following:

Fundraising: develop and manage fundraising campaigns, write grant proposals, and facilitate donor relations; maintain the Network for Good site for receiving online donations; maintain Giftworks database; acknowledge all donations.

Event planning: Organize logistics of annual fundraiser including venue, permits, games, raffles, insurance, secure sponsors and donors, publicize and execute event.

Grant-making: Engage regularly with district administrators; provide grant consultations to and guidance for school staff; administer and set up grant applications on Foundant web site; assist with purchasing of items for specific grants as needed; attend grant-funded activities and events; attend Board of Education meetings to present grant awards.

Finance: Oversee the efficient and effective operation of the foundation; prepare annual budget; maintain accounts in QuickBooks; generate monthly financial reports; prepare checks for payable invoices; oversee creation and filing of 990 and other required reports.

Communications: Maintain website, Facebook and mailing lists; publicize grant awards; prepare LTEF annual report

Administration: Work with board to identify and recruit new board members and volunteers; develop annual meeting calendar and committees; prepare for monthly board meetings; maintain LTEF office and equipment.

Essential qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree
  • Commitment to public education
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience
  • Bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a range of online tools and computer software, including databases

Preferred qualifications:

  • Past success working with a Board of Directors
  • Event planning experience
