Lawrence Township Schools Recognized For Outstanding Newsletter
It tied Livingston in the newsletter category at the NJSPRA School Communication Awards.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Lawrence Township and Livingston public school districts have tied for first place in the Newsletter Category in the 2017 New Jersey School Public Relations Association (NJSPRA) School Communication Awards, NJSPRA announced on Wednesday.
Lawrence Township Public School District Operations Manager Lana Mueller accepted the award on behalf of the district at the NJSPRA annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, held this month at Arm & Hammer Park. Livingston Public School District Manager of Communications and Community Outreach Marilyn Lehren accepted the award on behalf of her district.
The ceremony awarded public relations professionals in the areas of Branding, Media Relations- Human Interest, Newsletters, Social Media, Special Interest Publication, Video and Website. Communications professors from Rowan University’s College of Communications and Creative Arts judged the submissions.

Submissions entered in the Newsletter category were judged based on the external audience reach of the newsletter, the consistent publication of the newsletter and the amount of community members who received the newsletter.
According to the judges, Lawrence Township Public School District and Livingston Public School District’s newsletters stood out from the other entries because they included important district information and were easily accessible to the communities.

Chris Langschultz, the special assistant to the superintendent for the Bergenfield Public School District, received second place for his production of an informative and organized newsletter. Michael Hecox, the communications and information specialist of Hoboken Public Schools, was awarded third place in the category for his eye-catching newsletter design.
“We have so much to be proud of in our schools, and we should never ever stop celebrating those stories,” explained NJSPRA president Lori Perlow in her remarks to the award winners.
