LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Jamie Ding, a Lawrenceville resident and law student, has cemented his place among the greatest "Jeopardy!" champions in the show's history, winning his ninth consecutive game Wednesday and surpassing $222,000 in total earnings.

Ding won his eighth straight game on Tuesday, finishing with $27,000 and bringing his total winnings to $222,203. Host Ken Jennings offered a simple summary of the performance: "Wow! Jamie went on a tear at the end."

The streak has been nothing short of historic. In his third game, Ding posted a Coryat score — a measure of correct responses before wagering, widely regarded as one of the purest indicators of "Jeopardy!" dominance — of $42,400, surpassing Jennings' previous single-game high of $39,200, set June 10, 2004. Jennings, who was presiding over the moment from the host's podium, acknowledged the feat in real time, saying: "A new record for the season. How high will he go?"

Ding is a Princeton University graduate who earned a bachelor's degree in molecular biology in 2013. He has worked at the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency since 2021, where he serves as a multifamily and tax credit program administrator, and is currently pursuing a law degree as a weekend J.D. student at Seton Hall University Law School.

Off the board, Ding has charmed viewers with his personality. He and his sister run an Instagram account dedicated to reviewing General Tso's chicken at Chinese restaurants, which he described as a measuring stick for the quality of a Chinese restaurant.
