Man Charged After Woman’s Body Found In Trash Bag In Mercer: Officials

The decomposed body of a woman was found in a trash bag on Dec. 23 at a property in Trenton.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ - A Trenton resident has been charged with desecrating human remains and other offenses after a woman’s decomposed body was found by the landlord in December, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said Wednesday.

David Gibson, 44, was charged with disturbing or desecrating human remains, tampering with evidence, and hindering. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Gibson pending trial.

Gibson is the tenant of 615 Beatty Street who was evicted in November, Onofri said. According to investigation, he placed the woman’s body in the garbage bag after she died, moved the trash bag to a different area, concealing the body, and did not contact authorities, officials said.

An autopsy was performed by the Middlesex Regional Medical Examiner's Office, and the cause and manner of the woman's death are pending further testing, Onofri said. The woman has been tentatively identified, however, that identification is pending DNA confirmation, officials said.
