Man Charged With Murder In Mercer Co. Sidewalk Shooting Death
Trayvon Stokes of Trenton is charged with first-degree murder and other offenses in last year's shooting death of Ewing's Chron Jenks.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ – A Trenton man has been charged with murder and other offenses in last year’s sidewalk shooting death of Chron Jenks, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said Wednesday.
Trayvon Stokes, 31, of Trenton, is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, first-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon.
He was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Trenton, Onofri said.

A search warrant was executed at Stokes’ residence by members of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Tactical Response Team and the Trenton Police Department.
At that time Breeyon Jones, 34, was present and detained, Onofri said. Jones was charged with second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon after a handgun was recovered from his bedroom.

Around 5 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2022, Trenton police responded to a Shot Spotter activation for multiple rounds in the 300 block of Garfield Avenue. On arrival, officers found jenks on the sidewalk suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. The 34-year-old Ewing resident was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later, Onofri said. The prosecutor’s office will file motions to detain Stokes and Jones pending trial, Onofri said.
The investigation was conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department.
