Man Fatally Shot Inside SUV In Mercer County: Prosecutor

A man was found inside a white Mercedes SUV with multiple gunshot wounds Thursday afternoon in Trenton, authorities said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A 19-year-old was shot dead inside his SUV on Thursday afternoon in Trenton, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Trenton police responded to a Shot Spotter activation for multiple rounds in the 800 block of Carteret Avenue.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a white Mercedes SUV that had been struck numerous times by gunfire, Onofri said.

Nay’sean Byrd, 19, of Trenton was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. No arrests have been made.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating a shooting.
