Mercer County Sheriff Promotes 2 Officers To Role Of Sergeant

Leigh Johnson and Marc Manfredi are among the department's most highly trained and skilled officers, the Sheriff's Office said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two officers from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office have been promoted to the role of Sergeant, Sheriff Jack Kemler announced Tuesday.

Leigh Johnson and Marc Manfredi were sworn into office on Tuesday, amid family, friends and colleagues at the Mercer County Civil Courthouse.

Johnson and Manfredi are among the Mercer County Sheriff's Office's most highly trained and skilled law enforcement officers, the department said.

"I am very pleased each of their names rose to the top of the candidate's list, and I admire them for their dedication to our County," Sheriff Kemler said. "Their promotions are well deserved and hard-earned."

Johnson is a 2013 graduate of the Mercer County Police Academy. She was most recently assigned to the Mercer County Cybercrimes Task Force and Crisis Negotiation Team. During her tenure with the Sheriff's Office, she has been part of many high-level assignments and served on teams that pursued and apprehended numerous dangerous individuals.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from TCNJ in Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree from Georgian Court University in Homeland Security.

Manfredi is a 2015 graduate of the Mercer County Police Academy. He was most recently assigned to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office Courts Unit. In addition to providing security for the Judiciary, his chief role is to maintain a safe and secure courthouse environment, with no major incidents under his watch.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Cyber Security from the University of Maryland University College. He serves in the active reserves of the United States Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer.
