Municipal Offices Will be Closed For Juneteenth In Lawrence Township

There will be no change in garbage and recycling pickup.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — In observance of Juneteenth, all Municipal offices in Lawrence Township will be closed Monday.

Also known as Emancipation Day, Freedom Day and Jubilee Day, Juneteenth is the oldest-known celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. In 2021, President Joe Biden signed legislation making it a federal holiday, the first since the addition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1983.

There are a few Juneteenth celebrations happening in neighboring towns if you are keen to attend. In Princeton, there will be an art installation and musical performance by Grammy Award-winning, Metropolitan Opera star Will Liverman with pianist Kevin Miller. Click here for details.
