Obituary: Eleanor M. Downs, 48

Lifelong area resident died Thursday.

Eleanor “Ellie” M. Downs, 48, of Lawrence Township, died Thursday, Sept. 29, at her home.

Born in Trenton, and a former resident of Ewing, she was an area resident all of her life.

She was employed as a computer technician for the State of New Jersey Lottery Commission in Lawrence for over 22 years.

She enjoyed attending her daughters' sporting events and had a fondness for entertaining family and friends. She never missed her Friday night happy hour that she would host or attend at a friend's home.

Daughter of the late Edward Skorupa, she is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Downs; her two daughters; Stephanie and Morgan Downs; her mother, Florence Skorupa; her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Mel Elliott, and Janet Ciccone-Szejner and Bob Szejner; her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Judy Skorupa; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Michael Elliott, and Christopher and Daniel Ciccone, and Jason, Michael, Todd and Kim Skorupa.

She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Patricia Downs; and her two brothers-in-law, Scott Downs and his wife, Heather, and Gregg Downs and his wife, Robin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Rd., Lawrence Township. Burial will be in the St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing.

Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrence Township.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 3076 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville, N.J. 08648-2304
