Obituary: Mary Halcisak Maleski, 92
Lawrence Township resident immigrated from Slovakia in 1923.

Mary Halcisak Maleski, 92, of Lawrence Township, died Saturday at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing at Morris Hall in Lawrence.
Born in Kamenica, Slovakia, she immigrated to the United States in 1923 through Ellis Island and eventually settled in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. After marrying, she relocated to Ewing Township where she was a resident for over 50 years before moving to Lawrence.
She was a long time member of Incarnation-St. James Parish. She was primarily a homemaker but also worked as a seamstress and waitress for several years. She will always be remembered for making the "world's best pyrohy" and countless handmade egg noodles that she donated to the Sacred Heart Church Bazaar for many years.

Daughter of the late Michael and Anna Dinis Halcisak, and wife of the late Joseph Maleski, she is survived by her two daughters, Susan Peters and her husband Stephen of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Mary Ann (Murna) Maleski of Lawrence; her grandsons, Joseph and Thomas Peters; her two sisters, Theresa and husband Jack McMaster of New Castle, Del., and Anna and husband Albert Kollesar of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; a brother, William Halcisak of Ocean City, Md.; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Halcisak of Drums, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers Stephen and Joseph Halcisak and sister Cecilia Halcisak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel located at Morris Hall, 1 Bishops Drive, Lawrence. Calling hours will begin at 10 a.m. at the Chapel, prior to the mass. Burial will be on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas, Pa.
