One Student Will Win A New Car At Rider University Graduation

Graduation is this weekend at Sun National Bank Center in Trenton.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — One student who graduates from Rider University this weekend will begin their post-education life with a brand new car. One graduating senior will win a brand new Toyota iM from Team Toyota of Princeton and a 7-day Royal Caribbean Cruise for two courtesy of Vacations by Stacy. This contest is sponsored by Rider University's radio station, 107.7 The Bronc.

The contest winner will be the graduating senior who creates the most inspiring two-minute video about their "Rider experience." This is the second year of the contest. To see all of the video entries, visit http://www.1077thebronc.com/?page_id=14230.

Rider University’s 2017 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 12, 11:30 a.m. at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton. The car and cruise giveaway is expected to begin at about 1:30 p.m. outside of the Sun National Bank Center's Gate C, at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Route 129.

The Honorary Degree Recipient for this year’s ceremony is Joe Plumeri. Plumeri grew up in North Trenton, and his family made an initial investment in Arm & Hammer Park (formerly Mercer County Waterfront Park). Plumeri and his father were instrumental in bringing the minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees to play in Trenton, a cornerstone of their vision to revitalize Trenton.

Plumeri’s mother and brother also earned their bachelor degrees at Rider, and his father took classes there.
This will be the first time Rider University holds its commencement ceremonies at Sun National Bank Center. For more about Plumeri and his family, visit rider.edu.

This year, a total of 834 people are graduating from Rider, with 155 coming from outside New Jersey, and 70 students coming from outside the United States.

Americans from outside New Jersey come from Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, the Virgin Islands, Washington.

There are students representing 34 countries, including China, Saudi Arabia, UK, France, India, Colombia, Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, Nigeria, Spain, Taiwan, Antigua & Barbuda, Belgium, Cameroon, Chile, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Luxemborg, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Phillippines, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and Yemen.

Additionally:
  • 62 students studied abroad;
  • 100 are athletes;
  • 383 have completed internships/co-ops, and/or student teaching; and
  • 98% of students received financial aid, totaling nearly $77M in scholarships.
