Lawrenceville School Tops List of State's Best Private Schools

Two schools in Princeton are among the Top 20 Best Private High Schools in New Jersey.

Princeton Day School was ranked No. 2 in niche.com’s 2015 rankings. Stuart Country Day School was No. 14.

The Lawrenceville School topped the list.

Schools were selected for the list based on overall experience, using government and public data and 123,218 opinion-based survey responses across a variety of topics from 16,688 current students, recent alumni, and parents.

A high ranking in Overall Experience generally indicates that:

• Students are very happy with their experiences in all aspects including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;
• The school is an exceptional academic institution in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;
• The school is made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;
• Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the school offers.

Princeton Day School earned an “A” for academics, as well as student culture and diversity.

Stuart Day School earned an “A” for academics and a “B-“ for student culture and diversity.

Lawrenceville School earned the top spot by scoring an “A+” for academics and an “A-“ for student culture and diversity. Parents and students ranked the overall experience at this school as a 4.4 out of 5. There were seven responses for this, and no data in this category was available for the two Princeton schools.

Other local schools in the Top 20 included The Peddie School in Hightstown and the Hun School of Princeton in Lawrenceville.
