Pass an Anti-Corruption Resolution in Lawrenceville

At the March 15 Lawrenceville Town Council Meeting, a local resident and member of the League of Women Voters, requested that the Council consider passing an Anti-Corruption Resolution following the lead of Princeton and Ewing in NJ and many other municipalities across the US. The purpose of this Resolution is to send a strong message to our representatives at the State and Federal levels to end the corrupting influence of Special Interest and Dark Money in our elections and policy making. This kind of legalized corruption is not only the biggest political problem of our time, it is the biggest problem, period, because it affects every other issue. Until we fix it, the government cannot represent the People. Our government has devolved into a circus of legalized corruption: lobbyists write laws, then pay for their passage as elected officials exchange policy positions for campaign donations. There is a nonpartisan grassroots movement passing Resolutions and legislation throughout the Us intent on changing the system. You can be a part of it by urging your Council members to pass this Resolution in Lawrenceville.

On Wednesday, April 27 at 7 PM at the Lawrence Library (Lawrence Headquarters Branch 2751 Brunswick Pike (Bus. Route One) Lawrenceville, NJ 08648) a screening of the film, "Big Sky, Big Money" will be shown. This is a film about money, politics and intrigue, how has the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision changed political campaigns in America and how we can reclaim citizen participation and representative democracy. After the film, there will be a discussion facilitated by Represent.Us - a national, cross-partisan campaign to pass anti-corruption laws and resolutions in cities and states across the country.
