Salvation Army Trenton Citadel Corps Visits Water’s Edge Assisted Living through Community Care Ministries

Gifts will be Delivered to Mercer County's Elderly by The Salvation Army Trenton Citadel Corps

Trenton, NJ (December 16, 2016) – As part of their Community Care Ministries (CCM), The Salvation Army’s Trenton Citadel Corps will be visiting Water’s Edge Assisted Living on Monday, December 19, 2016. The Trenton Citadel Corps will be delivering holiday gifts, no-skid socks, magazines and holiday cheer to residence.

“It is an honor to be able to help our communities’ elderly tenants and to bring them some Christmas spirit,” said Envoy Richard Pease, The Salvation Army Trenton Citadel Corps Officer & West Central Region Coordinator. “Every year the CCM visits residents in our area, and we are happy to add Water’s Edge to the list.”

This is the first year The Salvation Army and Water’s Edge have teamed up.

Longtime volunteer of The Salvation Army, Craig McKay, helped facilitate the partnership. “The Salvation Army and Water’s Edge was a perfect fit because Water’s Edge is filled with people from the inner city. The inner city is in need of love. And that’s what The Salvation Army is giving out,” he said. “A good percentage of people in nursing homes don’t have visitors. They’re a forgotten part of society. The Salvation Army teaches how to be humble, to help people, and how to do that.”

Water’s Edge houses 250 residents and provides both rehabilitation and long-term care. They are located at 512 Union Street in Trenton, NJ.
