'Unfounded' Report Of Armed Man Prompts School Lockdown In Mercer: PD

The incident happened Wednesday. Hamilton police said the report was "unfounded" and the threat was deemed non-credible.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A Hamilton high school was put on lockdown and a middle school was asked to shelter in place on Wednesday after police received reports of an armed man approaching the high school.

On Wednesday, police were dispatched to the area of Nottingham High School on a report of a man walking toward the school with a weapon.

The high school was put on lockdown and Crockett Middle School was made to shelter-in-place based on the report.

According to an investigation, the report proved to be “unfounded and the threat was not deemed credible,” police said.

Both schools were then released from their lockdown and shelter-in-place status.
