Victim ID'd In Fatal Accident On Route 295

Jeffrey Bergner was ejected from his jeep during a two-vehicle crash in Hamilton Township on Wednesday.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — The person who was killed in a two-car crash on Route 295 in Hamilton Township has been identified. Jeffrey Bergner, 50, of Hamilton Township, was killed when his jeep collided with a car on Route 295 north near milepost 66.1 Wednesday morning, according to New Jersey State Police.

The accident took place just before 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 27 when 24-year-old Nathan Keller, of Southampton, lost control of his 2008 Mazda while driving north in the left lane and ran off the road onto a grass median, police said. Keller then went back onto the road, into the middle lane, where he collided with Bergner’s 2015 Jeep Wrangler.

Bergner was ejected from the jeep. He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police. Kellel wasn’t injured, and didn’t seek medical treatment at the scene. The accident remains under investigation, and no charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

All lanes of Route 295 at milepost 66.1 in Hamilton Township were closed for about five hours while the accident was investigated.
