The Westminster Conservatory moves to Lawrenceville!

Founded in 1970 as an outgrowth of Westminster Choir College, Westminster Conservatory has provided music instruction to generations of students of the greater Mercer County community. This fall, the Conservatory is moving to the Lawrenceville campus of Rider University where it will continue offering high-quality music instruction to the public.

Programs will include:

• Private Instruction – Lessons in voice, piano, organ and recorder with Conservatory and University faculty, for beginners through professionals.
• High School Honors Music Program – A Saturday morning program for advanced high school singers and instrumentalists, featuring leveled instruction in music theory and history, ear training, collaborative musicianship and special topics classes that rotate each semester.
• Westminster Community Orchestra – Led by Ruth Ochs, this ensemble performs a wide-ranging repertoire, from classical works to holiday favorites, rehearsing on Wednesday evenings in Gill Chapel.
• Opera Outings – On-campus lectures and trips to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

The Conservatory’s move coincides with the launch of the new Westminster College of Media and Performing Arts, a significant investment in Rider’s arts, communication and media programs. The new college brings together the Department of Communication, Journalism, and Media; the Department of Media Arts; the Department of Performing Arts; Westminster Choir College; and Westminster Conservatory.
