Independent Pardee to Run for Little Silver Council

16-year resident Jennifer Pardee has been involved with Parker Homestead, Post Office Museum, and Traffic and Safety Committees

Little Silver Independent Jennifer Pardee has filed to run for one of two open borough council seats up for grabs this November.

Underscoring her interest in seeing the community she has been raising a family in for the past 16 years "succeed and prosper," Pardee announced her candidacy in a release issued last week.

Pardee touts experience working on a board, having served a co-op for 22 years, and is a recent board member on the borough's Parker Homestead - 1665 Committee to preserve the historical buildings in front of . She has also served on the Traffic and Safety Committee for the past four years.

Highlighting her role in the rejuvenation and re-opening of the Little Silver Post Office Museum, which she opens on a regular basis on the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pardee says she recently obtained a matching financial grant from the Monmouth County Historical Commission to help pay for the cost of exterior repairs and painting the century-old building owned by the borough.

"Ms. Pardee’s interest in serving Little Silver is firmly rooted in the belief of 'giving back' to one’s community whenever feasible," said the release. "Her number one goal is to help the Borough of Little Silver succeed and prosper.  She believes the council members, in general, have a great opportunity to make in-depth reviews of all aspects of borough business to implement cost savings, 'cut red tape' and generally improve the operating mechanisms currently in place. Through diligent research, working with council members and borough officials and always bearing in mind that there are 'two sides to every story,' Ms. Pardee promises to review all decisions with regard to their impact on the municipal budget & tax burden."

Borough Administrator Helen Gormley said Wednesday that Pardee would be competing for one of two council seats currently held by Democrat Daniel O'Hern and . Council members serve for three years, and O'Hern will be seeking re-election, while . Republican Dane Mihlon is also running for one of the open council seats.

If elected in November, Pardee would be the first woman to serve on council since the late stepped up from councilwoman to mayor in 1994.
