Little Silver Municipal Taxes to Rise About $35
The borough council introduced its 2012 budget on Monday

taxpayers will see a slight rise in the municipal portion of their tax bill this year.
The owner of an average-assessed home in the borough of $500,000 will pay about $35 extra in 2012. This does not take into account the local school, regional and county portion of the property tax bill.
The borough council introduced the $9.85 million total budget at its March 5 meeting and will hold a public hearing on the matter on April 16 at 8 p.m.

Councilman Don Galante said that although the overall budget decreased and there was a 3-percent decrease in borough spending, taxes increased fractionally. The 2011 budget was $10.1 million.
Property taxes will support about $6.488 million of the budget with the balance covered by $3.36 million in anticipated revenue.

Councilman Jon Bitman lauded the budget and the borough's efforts in "getting things done," such as "spending capital (and) cleaning up old accounts.
"My compliments to everyone who's touched this thing," he said of the budget.
