Old-style 'base ball' & open house Sunday
Good old-fashioned (and free) fun: Sickles Park ball game and Parker Homestead event
The 1864 version of America's pastime will be played Sunday (June 12) in Sickles Park. That means catching the ball no fielding gloves!
The Monmouth Furnace Base Ball Club will take on another vintage team, the Chesapeake 9 from Baltimore, at 1 pm. Admission will be free. Sickles Park is at 200 Rumson Road, next to Sickles Market.
Nearby, the borough's historic Parker Homestead will be open 10am-1pm to showcase a newly discovered collection of rare 1909 Caramel Candy Co. baseball cards.

The Monmouth Furnace team, consisting of players from their teens into their 70s, is based at the Historic Village of Allaire in Farmingdale. The ball club regularly plays other vintage teams throughout the Mid-Atlantic states. Its next local game will be on June 25 at Allaire.
