POLL: Are You Opposed to Permanent Lights on Branch Ave.?

They're temporary right now, but would you like to see them remain after the work on Seven Bridges Road has been completed?

As any of us who have had to make a left hand turn onto Branch Avenue off White Road or Rumson Road at certain times of day knows, it often feels as if you are taking your life into your hands as you pull into the intersection.

So while the recent news that the for those two intersections will be up and running by mid-June -- to accommodate the pending construction on Seven Bridges Road -- may come as good news for some, other residents are concerned more traffic will be created.

Borough at the May 7 council meeting that there have been no discussions about keeping the traffic signals once the the work is completed.

But Capt. Gary LaBruno, the borough's traffic and safety officer, said at the meeting, "Historically, any lights that have been put up in town have decreased the number of accidents and that just makes it safer travel for everyone going through.”
