POLL: Should Church Lane Become a One-Way Street?
What do you think: It's a narrow road with sketchy visibility at one end.
If you've ever had to navigate down Church Lane, perhaps in an over-sized SUV, and been forced to squeeze as far right as you could to allow an oncoming vehicle, perhaps another over-sized SUV, to pass, you've probably wondered if the borough had ever considered making it a one-way street.
So had Robert Pohlman, who came before the Little Silver Borough Council on Monday to request that the narrow cut through between Church Street and Rumson Road be restricted to one-way traffic.
Pohlman moved to a house on the corner of the tiny street and Rumson Road almost a year ago and has since discovered that "big delivery trucks" leaving across the street use the cut through and cars need to use his lawn to make way for oncoming vehicles.

"You get people buzzing down the block pretty fast," Pohlman told the council at its March 5 meeting in an effort to get the ball rolling on making the roadway one way.
Pohlman said he thought traffic should be restricted from traveling from Church Street towards Rumson Road.

"You kind of take your life into your own hands," Pohlman said of vehicles trying to inch out towards Rumson Road to get a better view of traffic blocked by the brick wall surrounding the nearby cemetery.
Cars parked along the north side of Rumson Road for also inhibit drivers' lines of vision coming out of Church Lane, said Councilman Jon Bitman.
All council members agreed it was an issue worth looking into and Mayor Robert Neff, Jr. suggested Pohlman take his idea to the Little Silver Traffic Safety Committee, which meets on March 14, to discuss in further detail.
