Retiring Little Silver Police Chief Giblin Thanks PTO

Giblin: "I will truly miss being out in front of Point Road School each morning as the kids arrive, it was often the best part of my day."

As Shannon Giblin prepares to retire from his post as Little Silver Chief of Police on Wednesday, June 1, he's making the rounds to acknowledge people who have helped him along the way.

In a letter attached to the Little Silver PTO newsletter e-mail that went out Friday morning, Giblin praised local parents and teachers for their level of involvement in the school community, calling it "second to none," and thanked them for their assistance to the police department, which he said proved invaluable at times.

"I will truly miss being out in front of each morning as the kids arrive," said Giblin in the letter. "It was often the best part of my day."

In his conclusion, Giblin introduced Sergeant Daniel Shaffery, who will be sworn in on June 1. Giblin informed the PTO that Shaffery has been a police officer in Little Silver since 1992, and said they've talked about preserving the link between the police department and the PTO.

"I have spoken to Sergeant Shaffery about the positive relationships that we have had with the PTO over the years and I am sure that will continue without hesitation," said Giblin.
