On Sept. 2, the newest students of Collins Elementary School in Livingston found out the answer to the above question when they attended their first day of school.

“The first day can be overwhelming, and even a bit scary, but teachers on bended knee smoothed away the jittery transition,” the school district stated on its website.

“Thank you for your part in making this first week such a success,” Principal John Leister reported in a Sept. 4 message. “I was so pleased with every single classroom visit both in terms of academics and the classroom community building… One week ago, this building was empty. Today, it was a thriving community of over 550 student and adult learners. We went from 0 to 60 quickly and successfully.”
