2 Arrested In Livingston After Homeowner Catches Them Trying To Break In: Police

The Livingston police arrested two men after a homeowner called and said surveillance video showed someone breaking in.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Two men were arrested Friday after a Livingston homeowner saw someone trying to break into the home via surveillance video, police said.

Police said they responded at 7:46 p.m. on Friday to a Meadowbrook Road residence. Police arrived to find a vehicle and two suspects outside the home, they said.

Police arrested Fabian Andres Portilla Castrillon,39, from Elizabeth, and Federico Aristizabal, 27, from Rego Park, N.Y.

Aristizabal was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglary tools. Portilla Castrillon was charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools, police said.

Both were released on summonses.

Man Tried To Charge Devices In Office

Police also said that last Tuesday, Oct. 10, police responded at 8:52 a.m. to a Regent Street office suite on a report of a break-in.

Police met with staff, who said that upon arriving at the office, they found the front door pried open.

Police said that video surveillance showed the unknown suspect enter the office and go to the refrigerator, then use the office outlet to charge several devices.

An on scene investigation led to the suspect being identified as Victor Fatula, 63, from Livingston, police said.

He was arrested a short time later and charged with unlicensed entry into a structure, police said. He was released on a summons.
