3 Spring Events For Special Needs Families In Livingston
The Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities will host a spring party, a talent show, and its annual Shine a Light on Autism" Night.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — Three upcoming community events will give special needs families in Livingston a chance to ring in the spring: an annual Shine a Light on Autism” Night, a Spring Party, and a Talent Show.
The Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD) shared the following details about three local events taking place in April and May.
SHINE A LIGHT ON AUTISM

The LACD will host its annual “Shine a Light on Autism” Night on Thursday, April 23 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gazebo at the Oval, Robert Harp Drive.
This free community event brings residents together to raise awareness and support for individuals and families affected by autism. A rain date is scheduled for Friday, April 24 at the same time and location. To check the event status in case of inclement weather, call 973-535-7961, ext. 7102.

Guest speakers will include Livingston Mayor Shawn Klein, a representative from Autism New Jersey, Livingston police officers, and Livingston public schools students. Community members are encouraged to wear blue and join a lap around the Oval to help us turn the Oval blue in recognition of autism awareness.
Autism awareness merchandise will be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting Autism New Jersey. The event will also feature free drinks and snacks, music by a DJ, and balloon art. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blue lanterns or lights.

SPRING PARTY
The LACD will host a Spring Party for children and adults with special needs and their families on Saturday, May 2, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue.
This free, fun-filled community event will feature food, beverages, dancing to music provided by a DJ, and an arts and crafts program. The event is designed to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment where individuals with special needs and their families can come together to socialize, enjoy activities, and celebrate the spring season.
Families and participants of all ages are invited to attend. Guests are kindly asked to bring a dessert to share.

TALENT SHOW
The LACD will host its annual Talent Show for individuals with special needs on Thursday, May 7 at 7 p.m. The event will take place in Room T3 at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue.
This free community event invites children and adults with special needs to showcase their talents and shine in the spotlight. Participants are encouraged to share their unique abilities, such as singing a favorite song, dancing, performing a magic trick, or demonstrating any special skill.
The talent show celebrates creativity, confidence, and the diverse abilities of members of the special needs community. Free snacks and drinks will be provided, and all participants will receive a gift.
