"I am sadly writing this update tonight as Melissa lost her fight to the sarcoma at 2 pm today. For the last 9 months Melissa could not have fought any harder. But this fight was fixed from the get go. Her husband and children are living to fight another day. We thank all of you for your support."
Her funeral will be held in Short Hills this Sunday, Oct. 29.

Earlier this year, her family told Patch that she was writing out cards to give out for the next 20 years for her kids' special occasions, such as birthdays.
Family members said Miller had surgery for a bleeding fibroid, a common problem among women. However, her fibroid contained cancer, and there was spillage during the surgery.
