Amid Shutdown, JVS of MetroWest Offers Help to Furloughed Workers
Some 50,000 New Jersey residents who work for the federal government impacted by stalemate
LIVINGSTON, NJ, Jan. 23 – Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) of MetroWest is offering free
career counseling and job search skills training for furloughed government workers residing
in New Jersey. It is estimated that as many as 50,000 New Jersey residents are among the
800,000 federal employees nationally who’ve been affected by the shutdown.
JVS of MetroWest announced today it will provide free one-on-one sessions for an hour or
longer tailored to the needs of local furloughed government workers. The sessions could
include everything from resume writing to interview preparation to career transition planning
to job search training.
“At a time when tens of thousands of federal government workers here in the Garden State
are experiencing significant hardship due to the shutdown, we’re here to provide expert
assistance and support,” said JVS Executive Director Michael Andreas. “Furloughed
government workers who might be considering other career options during this uncertain
time can rely on JVS for help.”
