The Arc of Essex County, a 501c3 organization dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), hosted the 25th annual Home Assistance Program (HAP) holiday party at the Knights of Columbus in Livingston, N.J. on Wednesday, December 10. Nineteen Essex County families are a part of The Arc of Essex County’s HAP program, which provides services to families whose child and/or parent has an intellectual or developmental disability and are considered to be low income.

Families were treated to a full holiday experience complete with lunch, raffles, holiday music, a balloon artist, and a visit with Santa. Holiday toys provided by Rutgers University Big Chill 5K Race participants and SaxBST, as well as new winter apparel donated by The Arc of Essex County employees will be delivered to HAP families in time to take their place under the tree. Additionally, frozen turkeys were provided for each family from Shop Rite while the Gill St. Bernard School provided holiday food items collected via their annual food drive. Photos from yesterday’s event are available here.

“The Arc of Essex County has celebrated the holiday season with our HAP families for more than 20 years,” said Linda. C. Lucas, chief executive officer, The Arc of Essex County. “There is no better time of year to honor the HAP families and the mission of the HAP program than by celebrating the holidays together. We’d like to thank the organizations and donors that make the holiday party possible.”
