Attend Livingston "Fright Night" Events Leading Up To Halloween

Families and people of all ages can enjoy this series of spooky events in Livingston for the two days leading up to Halloween.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Families and individuals of all ages should check out a series of Halloween-themed events in town that run from Friday, Oct. 29 to Oct. 30.

On Friday, Oct. 29, Senior, Youth & Leisure Services (SYLS) will hold its 11th Annual Fright Night, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Livingston Senior/Community Center (LSCC), 204 Hillside Ave. It's a night the whole family can participate in.

Attendees can walk through a haunted trail, participate in trunk or treat, or enter the costume contest parade for Halloween prizes.

There will be a DJ, music, and a “FlashMob” dance performance by Livingston Dance Academy dancers. The COVID protocols in place at the time of the event will be observed.

The Trunk or Treat part of the event runs from 4-6 p.m. It's a safe way for kids to “Trick or Treat.” Children can walk from vehicle to vehicle in the parking lot of LSCC collecting treats in their costumes. If you are interested in participating in decorating your vehicle, you must pre-register your “trunk.” Select Fright Night-Trunk or Treat Family Vehicle Participation for online registration or email jwalker@livingstonnj.org. (Pre-packaged candy donations will be accepted at SYLS office, 204 Hillside Ave., Mon – Fri, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. prior to the event.)

The Costume Contest Parade begins at 4:30 p.m. sharp: Kids will have the opportunity to parade around the LSCC parking lot wearing their Halloween costumes. Costumes will be judged by the following categories: Most creative, best monster/villain, best super hero, funniest, cutest, and best pair/family costumes. Participants must pre-register, free of charge online www.livingstonsyls.org or at SYLS office, 204 Hillside Ave.

The Haunted Walk is from 5-8:30 p.m. both Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 30. There's a less scary version from 5-6:30 p.m. and a scarier walk later. Pre-registration is available online at www.livingstonsyls.org.

Admission fee for the Haunted Walk is $5/person, may be purchased at the event, cash only. The Haunted Trail from 5-6:30 p.m. is appropriate for children ages 7 & up; 6:45 - 8:30 pm. the walk is not recommended for children under 10 years old. All children under 10 years must be with a parent at all times. Sneakers are recommended and please bring a flashlight.
