Blotter: Burglary and Teen Girl Approached

LPD investigating a burglary in town and a recent incident involving a teen girl being approached by a stranger in a car.

Livingston police are investigating a burglary that occurred at 28 Washington Court on Thursday, March 11.

The burglary happened sometime in the evening when the resident was out of the house, the police report.  At about 9:30 p.m. that evening the resident returned home to find a rear sliding glass door smashed. An undetermined amount of jewelery, cash and a laptop computer were reportedly stolen.

In other police activity,  the department has issued an Alert Notification following a recent incident when a 13-year girl, who was walking home from her school bus stop, was approached by a white male in his 40s driving a newer model dark colored car (no further description).

According to police, the male asked her for assistance in finding his dog and showed her a flyer.  The girl declined and the driver followed her a short distance and then drove off.

The police were provided information by one of the girl's friends, who had received a text message from the girl immediately after the incident occurred.

A NJSP Track Notification was issued requesting that any other agencies that have had similar incidents contact the Livingston Police Department's Detective Division.
